I worked for the artist Sigrid as her musical director and band-leader for 4 years.
From the first gig at a tiny venue taking 100 people to doing big shows with more than 20.000 people. The first 3 years I didn't get paid for the extra work but I did it anyway because I wanted Sigrid to succeed.
I really enjoyed the creative part of the job but did not like the way the artist and her management treated me, the other musicians and the crew.
As the years went by I experienced more and more stuff that simply shouldn't occur in a professional work-place and after 4 years working within a team that had gone from communicative and progressive to dysfunctional and protective I realized I had to make a choice between this relatively "safe" job and my integrity as a freelance musician. I choose the latter.
