Quite a lot have been happening lately. First of all I quit my job with Sigrid.
After experiencing heavy touring for a couple of years I realized that it wasn't the life I wanted. I wanted more time to work on my own stuff and to be creative in ways not possible within the framework provided by a very commercial act.
So now that I have the luxury of so much spare time I've started working on some new exciting projects.
Mainly two new collaborations. One is with a Norwegian singer-songwrighter called Ingvild Homme. She already has a very beautiful record out [link] but wanted to write more in english. So right now we are in the middle of sending sketches back and forth and also planning some writing-trips to inspiring places. One of them is to my favorite part of England, Cornwall. I've always loved the start of a new project, when no-one is sure of where its gonna go or what its gonna be like yet!
The other collaboration is with a cellist named Ragnhild Sannes. She approached me some months ago about making a recording with songs about christmas. I have about a thousand ideas of how my rig should be for this as I want to integrate both synthesizers, Ableton-stuff and different techniques for prepared piano.
So we are currently researching reportoire and looking for cool churches to record in.
I've been doing a concert with Bergen Youth Chamber Orchestra in December for a couple of years now and this year we have decided to use folk-music from Scandinavia as our main inspiration. folk-fiddler Johanne Mjøs will be performing with us on the concert and has just sent me all this beautiful music to listen to. Eventually I'll turn some of it into arrangements for fiddle, organ&other stuff (me) and chamber orchestra.
I'll keep you posted. M
